Effective Tuesday, May 26, 2020:? By Appointment @ the Library

? ? ?The Eddyville Public Library will be starting a modified re-opening beginning on Tuesday, May 26th.? A new service we will be providing during this time is to have appointments (30 minute intervals) available for patrons who wish to use the computer, browse the collection and borrow materials, use the copy machine, etc.? This measure is being taken so we may stay within the restrictions on the number of people allowed in the building at one time.? We will also continue to offer curb-side pick-up as an added option for checking out materials.??

? ? ?For the by appointment service, you may call the library number (641-969-4815) to sign up for a time slot.? If we are unable to answer the phone, please leave a message with your? name and number and we will return you call as soon as possible.??

? ? ?When patrons arrive at the library for their scheduled appointment time, you will call the library number so we can give you access to the building.? Patrons are asked to use all precautions when in the building, although the choice of face mask and/or gloves is up to each individual? We are requiring a maintained six-foot distance between individuals.? Hand sanitizer will be available upon request.??

? ? ?The time slots for scheduling are:? Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday 9 am-11:30 am and 1:30 pm-5:30 pm; Thursday 9 am-11:30 am and 1:30 pm-3 pm.; Friday 9 am-Noon

?New Service!

SHARE

? ? ?Wanting to borrow books or materials that we do not own?? If so, please continue reading.

? ? ?A local library buys the books and materials most wanted by its community. Because of limited resources and space, a single library cannot buy all published items, but can often borrow what its customer wants from another library, through “interlibrary loan”. Iowa libraries are part of a vast network of participating libraries that are willing to loan materials to other libraries.? Iowa?libraries can use the SILO Locator and interlibrary loan system, to borrow books/materials for their patrons from other participating in-state libraries.

? ? ?In the past, the interlibrary loan delivery system was done through the US Postal Service. Each interlibrary loan transaction was charged a fee of $2.00 to pay a portion of the cost to send the item back to the lending library. We are happy to announce that we will now be able to offer free interlibrary loans with the arrival of the new IA Shares delivery service program.

? ? ?The IA Shares program will provide free delivery and pick-up of interlibrary loan materials to all Iowa public libraries to facilitate sharing of resources. The IA Shares program will save the library money that can be used for additional materials, supplies, and programming.

? ? ?The pick-up/delivery day for Eddyville is scheduled for Tuesdays. Any Eddyville Public Library user who would like books or other materials that the library does not own will be able to order them at no charge by making their request at the Eddyville Public Library.

? ? ?Please note: Most libraries allow a one-month checkout period for interlibrary loan materials. Newly released items may or may not be sent, depending on the lending library’s policy. The IA Shares delivery routes only go to public libraries.

? ? ?See your library staff for additional information.
