My "dog-walker" search:  Firm, light br wrapper, one vein, light oils  PLA a bit of wheatiness; PLT moist earth; PLD mod.  Easy light, mod easy draw, even burn, & a somewhat salty smoke.  Right off the bat there is a popcorn flavor to this cigar, along with some nice wood notes, nuts, a decent amount of black & white pepper (more in the nose) & some sweet earth.  About the 1/2 there is a faint, pleasant vinegar-y tang which mostly fades near the end.  The finish is roasty, toasty, nutty, even a little meaty & still with that popcorn hint.  The body is a steady medium.  This cigar is too good to rush for a walk.  A1!  (93)
Rocky Patel LB1 Robusto3.5 Star Ratingdruid6/22/20204:40 PM
Very firm, a dark mahogany wrapper, a couple veins & oil-slick.  PLA slightly grassy & vegetal; PLT fresh bread & mild earth; PLD moderately easy.  A normal light, an even burn, a moderately easy draw, & a salty, earthy smoke.  Leather, earth & an acidic nuttiness are the starters.  Early on in the 1st 1/3 a flinty mineral-ness develops & a bit of cocoa becomes apparent.  The flavor profile is steady but not particularly assertive.  The flintiness fades toward the end & the finish is toasty with just a hint of the cocoa.  The body stays in the medium range, occasionally reaching the upper level of it.  A fairly pleasant cigar but not wonderful.  (89)

Humidor time: 339 days
Appearance and construction: One prominent vein, an oily sheen, a moderately firm pack with no soft spots, and a very large band covering most of the stick... Gave it a wide-ring punch and PLD was moderately open. (12/15)

Flavor: PLA gave a whiff of rich tobacco. The light gave a medium-bodied profile with a spicy retro and notes of wood, spice, coffee, and cocoa. The spice in the nose faded quickly with the other flavors remaining consistent throughout. Very tasty and better than what I remembered from smoking the robusto version. Strength was about medium. (23/25)

Smoking characteristics: The light produced a moderately easy draw, decent smoke volume, and an even burn to start. The burn stayed even through the first third with the ash falling on my shirt at 1 1/4" leaving a small cone. Things were then uneventful down to the nub with draw and smoke output remaining on the low side of optimal but squarely in the adequate range. (23/25)

Overall impression: Great smoke, this one, and it made me a believer in this blend after previously being a bit ambivalent after smoking the robusto.  It could be my palate has developed enough to appreciate it or maybe this blend just comes across better in this vitola, who knows.  In any case, I'll be smoking more of these... Humidor time: 339 days
Appearance and construction: A few veins, a light sheen, and a moderately firm pack with no soft spots... Gave it a punch and PLD was moderately open. (12/15)

Flavor: PLA gave a whiff of rich tobacco. The light gave a full-bodied profile with notes of black coffee, leather, black pepper, and a hint of chocolate. This stayed consistent for the duration with the body receding towards medium/full as the smoke progressed.  Pleasantly tasty but it could have used some spice in the mix. Strength was about medium. (20/25)

Smoking characteristics: The light produced a moderately easy draw, smoke volume on the low side of optimal, and a wavy burn to start. The burn proceeded from wavy to lopsided in the first inch which got it a touch-up prior to the first ashing. No cone left after the ashing and the burn was still uneven, so a 2nd touch-up was applied. The stick went out on me in the 2nd third and then a 3rd touch-up was needed in the last third. I gave it a clip with the guillotine after the first ashing to try and open the draw a bit more, but this had no effect and draw and smoke output never quite reached optimal. (10/25)

Overall impression: Too much maintenance was needed with this one for it to be very enjoyable, sadly, but I have a few more and will update this review should they perform any better. (15/35)

Appearance and construction: A few veins, an oily sheen, and a moderately soft pack with no soft spots... Gave it a punch and PLD was open. (12/15)

Flavor: PLA gave a whiff of tobacco. The light gave a medium-bodied profile with a spicy retro and notes of wood and spice. The spice in the nose backed off just a bit, but this was a spicy stick, both in the nose and on the palate, all the way through.  Pretty close to my wheelhouse for a medium stick and quite nice. Strength was medium at best. (23/25)

Smoking characteristics: The light produced an easy draw, good smoke volume, and an even burn to start. The burn stayed even through the first third with the ash falling at 1 1/4" leaving a small cone. Things were then very uneventful down to the nub. Draw and smoke output were optimal throughout. (24/25)

Overall impression: A very tasty, enjoyable smoke, this one. Flavor, construction, all the appropriate boxes were checked and I will be getting more of these after this ten pack is gone. (32/35)

Appearance and construction: A few veins, an oily sheen, and a moderately firm pack with no soft spots... Gave it a punch and PLD was open. (12/15)

Flavor: PLA gave a whiff of tobacco. The light gave a full-bodied profile with a spicy retro and notes of coffee, leather, and black pepper. The spice in the nose faded quickly with the other flavors staying consistent until the pepper ramped and became predominant in the 2nd third. Quite tasty, overall. Strength was about medium. (23/25)

Smoking characteristics: The light produced an easy draw, good smoke volume, and an even burn to start. The burn stayed even through the first third with the ash falling at 1 1/2" leaving a cone. The burn got a bit wavy in the 2nd third but self-corrected nicely and same story in the last third but was otherwise uneventful down to the nub. Draw and smoke output were optimal throughout. (23/25)

Overall impression: Another nice smoke from this AJ Fernandez brand. Flavors, check, construction, check, not much here to dislike and the rest of this five pack will make great commute smokes if they perform as well as this one did. (31/35)

Here's another brand that I hadn't really heard of before enjoying this cigar.  I really loved the construction, look and feel of this cigar, with the dark maduro wrapper that was silky smooth and free of any blemishes.  The strength was spot-on medium-full.  The cigar lent a great deal of smoke with each draw, as well.  The flavors were really well-rounded, with plenty of burnt bread, leather, cedar and hints of vanilla and cream.

This cigar had had about three months' rest before smoking.  It was a nice-looking cigar with no major veins or flaws in the wrapper.  It was well-rolled with no soft spots.  The cap took the cut well.  Once lit, the cigar gave flavors of coffee with a touch of cream and hints of black pepper.  There were also hints of cedar that came and went.  The smoke volume was ample and the ash produced was a medium gray and fell at about an inch.  The burn line was even and required no touch-ups.  I thought the strength was more medium than medium-full.  This is a very good cigar and one that I will make sure to keep on hand.

Appearance and construction: A few veins, a light sheen, and a moderately firm pack with no soft spots... Gave it a punch and PLD was open. (12/15)

Flavor: PLA gave a whiff of tobacco. The light gave a medium-bodied profile with a spicy retro and a note of wood with a hint of cocoa. Very tasty right out of the gate, but the spice in the nose faded quickly with the other flavors mellowing and becoming slightly less interesting.  Still pleasant enough, but no transitions to speak of for the duration and it didn't grab me that hard. Strength was about medium or a bit better. (18/25)

Smoking characteristics: The light produced an easy draw, smoke volume on the thin side, and a wavy burn to start. The burn proceeded from wavy to lopsided in the first third and, following the first ashing at 2" on the low side (with no cone left behind), I gave it a touch-up. This didn't help much and a 2nd touch-up followed. Things stayed mostly even until the last third when a 3rd touch-up was needed before reaching the nub. Smoke output improved somewhat after the first third but never quite reached optimal. (14/25)

Overall impression: According to the CI page for these sticks, they're made at the Sanchez factory in Nicaragua. I've had hit-or-miss luck with Sanchez sticks so the poor performance of this one was not really surprising. Flavors were merely OK and nothing to write home about and construction was lacking but I have a few more of these and will update this review should they perform any better. (17/35)

Appearance and construction: A couple of minor veins, an oily sheen, and a moderately firm pack with no soft spots... Gave it a wide-ring punch and PLD was open. The punch caused the cap to unravel, but I managed to keep it in check. (12/15)

Flavor: PLA gave a whiff of rich tobacco. The light gave a full-bodied profile with a spicy retro and notes of chocolate, leather, and black pepper. The spice in the nose faded quickly with the other flavors mellowing towards medium/full territory in the first third. Very tasty. Strength was about medium or a bit better. (23/25)

Smoking characteristics: The light produced an easy draw, good smoke volume, and an even burn to start.  The burn stayed even through the first third with the ash falling at 1 1/4" leaving a cone. Things were then uneventful down to the nub apart from the occasional bit of self-correcting waviness in the burn line. Draw and smoke output were optimal throughout. (23/25)

Overall impression: A fine LGC smoke, this one, and similar to my experience with the Serie R No. 4 Maduro. Flavor and construction, both excellent, and the rest of this five pack will make great commute smokes. (31/35)
